BAM is USMS Masters Swim team with an ethos of affordability, inclusivity, and coaching for all levels and abilities. We welcome beginners, competitive swimmers, triathletes, and adults that want to learn to swim.
USMS is a national membership-operated nonprofit organization that provides membership benefits to nearly 60,000 Masters swimmers across the country. You can read all about USMS here.
USMS is the organization that provides insurance for our swim team. We require you to have a version of the USMS Membership, 1 day /30 days / annual, in order to swim with BAM. If you decide to further pursue your swimming journey or compete in swim meets, you’ll need to be a USMS member.
BAM is a swim team that operates on a monthly dues system. We have several membership plans to accommodate different needs.
BAM’s home pool is at the Verdugo Aquatics Facility in Burbank, CA. The address is 3201 W Verdugo Ave, Burbank CA 91505.
At the minimum, you will need a swim suit and goggles. But we strongly recommend investing in your own equipment:
-Fins
-Paddles
-Pull Buoy
You can purchase these items at Amazon or Swim Outlet.
You will receive a BAM swim cap at your first practice. The first cap is free; replacements are $15 each.
Nope. No one is required to participate in any swim meets. We are all here to learn and improve. But if you feel the need to test yourself and compete at a swim meet, some of your teammates will be competing with you as well.
Of course Triathletes are welcome to BAM. Our coaches can help out with stroke development and endurance training. One of our coaches is a multiple Ironman Finisher and will be available for questions and guidance not just swimming, but with the bike and run disciplines too.
Could there be pre/post bike or run events as part of some practices. Possibly.
