Co-Owner & Treasurer, Burbank Aquatics Masters (BAM)
Hi there! I’m Erica, co-owner and treasurer of Burbank Aquatics Masters. Fiona Duncan and I started BAM to create an inclusive, affordable space for swimmers of all levels—whether you’re learning to swim for the first time or chasing a new PR. Our goal is simple: to build a fun, social, and supportive community that celebrates movement, wellness, and the love of the water. We’re proud to offer high-quality coaching that helps athletes refine their strokes, build endurance, and reach their personal goals—both in and out of the pool.
A little about me: I grew up right here in Burbank, California, where I first dipped my toes into swimming through the city’s lessons and rec teams. I went on to swim and play water polo for John Burroughs High School, and later continued my water polo journey at Cal State Northridge, where I was a starter for three and a half years for their division one team (yes, I quit before finishing my fourth—and yes, there’s a story there!). I eventually transferred to the University at Buffalo, earning my Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2009, and later completed my Master’s in Nursing at UCLA in 2011. At UCLA I played for the club water polo team for two years.
Somewhere along the way, I married my college sweetheart, Zeb Jenkins, whom I met at CSUN—he’s a fellow swimmer and former water polo player. Life got busier after grad school with work and raising our three amazing boys, but once they got a bit older, I found my way back to the pool. Joining a masters team rekindled my passion for swimming, and I even ventured into open-water swims and triathlon relays (strictly as the swimmer—running and I have an understanding to stay far apart!). When I’m not in the pool, you can often find me mountain biking with my son's team Fuerza or at Bloom Loft yoga studio in Burbank.
Professionally, I’ve been a nurse practitioner specializing in pain medicine at the California Pain Medicine Center in Santa Monica since 2011. In 2024, I decided to expand my scope and pursued additional training in psychiatry at UC Davis. I'm now a dual board-certified nurse practitioner in geriatrics and psychiatric mental health. I’m grateful to collaborate with incredible colleagues—and admittedly had a bit of “FOMO” seeing some with four board certifications or more!
I’m beyond excited to see how BAM continues to grow and to watch our community thrive. Here’s to connection, wellness, and plenty of splash-filled memories ahead!
